So today I had a huge craving for a peanut butter cup but I didn’t want to run down to the store just for one so I decided to make my own. It takes about 1 minute to make and 15 minutes to harden in the freezer. In just 16 minutes you can be enjoying these lovelies:
Super easy. Place a layer of chocolate chips in a cupcake liner, add a dollop of peanut butter then sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Put in microwave for 30 seconds but keep an eye on it because if you cook it too long the chocolate chips will burn. The chocolate chips are not going to melt but they will get soft and sink in to the peanut butter (it’ll all taste the same in the end). If you want even layers, melt chocolate chips in a bowl ahead of time and then pour your first layer in the cupcake liner, add your peanut butter, and top it off with the remaining chocolate.
Once you have the layers built, put in refrigeration to harden.. or if you are impatient (like me), put it in the freezer for 15 minutes.
I’m still on a Nutella kick so I tried replacing the chocolate chips with Nutella and it was delicious.
Add a layer of Nutella, then peanut butter, then Nutella again. Put in microwave for 15 seconds and melt it up. Pop in the fridge/freezer, wait 15-20 minutes, and enjoy. The Nutella never really hardens so it will be a little gooey (never a bad thing). Super delicious but also really rich. I’ll be eating mine in 2, maybe 3, sittings.
Have any gummy bears? Add a few and you will have yourself “bears in a hot tub.” Adorable right?
