Are you looking for a last minute Halloween outfit? Here are some affordable and witty costumes you can put together in little to no time.
You can easily transform into the purrrfect Catwoman by wearing sleek black clothing, cat ears, and a mask (you can learn how to make a simple lace mask using just wax paper and fabric paint here)
You can find an easy tutorial on how to recreate this perfect panda costume here.
If you have a red/white striped shirt then you have probably had someone call you Waldo (speaking from experience here) so Halloween is the time to finally wear your shirt with pride. You can find some black hipster glasses at just about any dollar store or you can carefully pop out the lenses to some black framed sunglasses. Another option (for you poor college kids out there) would be to ask your movie theater if they have any black plastic 3D glasses they can give you (most let you keep them after the movie anyways, so they probably wouldn’t mind). You can also pair the outfit with some binoculars and a red/white beany if you have them lying around the house.
Use construction paper or duct tape to place a “P” on a zip up hoodie, voila- Split Pea. A similar (but slightly overdone) outfit is the black-eyed pea created by wearing a “P” on your shirt and using dark makeup to create a black eye. Now those are easy pea-sy.
Take a couple pointers from my favorite show, Parks and Recreation. For a US gymnast, wear a gold medal, track jacket, and a plethora of giant hair clips. For Rosie the Riveter, all you need is a denim shirt, red bandana, and red lipstick- just be prepared to be flashing your bicep for every photo.
These next few costumes are super easy but you have to be fully committed to carrying around a prop all night or else the costume will be a bust.
Pretty self explanatory, Iron Chef.
Wear all the gold costume jewelry and gold colored clothing you have and pair with a gardening shovel to be the ultimate gold digger.
This is one of those costumes that makes people think. Just be prepared to explain to people you are a ceiling fan (ohhh! I get it). Clever.. but slightly cheesy.
If you are going out with a group of friends, these DIY group costumes are super fun:
Taco Bell sauce packets.
Rock, paper, scissors. Clever, but good luck sitting down.
This concept works great for a big group since you can make the whole rainbow. With this witty outfit, people will know that you are indeed the brightest crayon in the box.
I couldn’t resist putting this one in here. If you and your BFF have a big sense of humor and are as big of a fan of Dumb and Dumber as I am, Lloyd and Harry may just be the perfect fit for you. If you’re lucky, you may be able to find similar suits at Goodwill that were once worn by a poor teenage boy at his senior prom cirque 1982. If you don’t mind spending a few bones, you can find the costumes on Amazon for around $45 (here for Lloyd and here for Harry).
