Friday Favorites: March 29th

Happy Friday to you all! I hope you had a great week and are enjoying warm weather wherever you’re reading this. Our week started off chilly but the last few days have been b-e-a-utiful so it looks like spring arrived just in time for Easter. I hope my Friday favorites get you in the mood for warm weather and a festive Easter!

Favorite Easter Eggs:

Black and white may not be the typical colors that come to mind when you think of spring or Easter but I love how detailed these Easter eggs are! I have no idea how they made them but I’m sure you could recreate your own version by painting the eggs with chalkboard paint and using white chalk to make your designs.

Favorite Easter Décor:

I love the bright and fun floral pattern that these Sissinghurst Castle plates have and how they perfectly layered them with neutral woods, springy greens, and a pop of cheerful yellow.

Favorite Easter Outfit:

When I was little my grandma would sew my sister and me matching Easter dresses every year. The dresses were complete with a loud floral pattern, lots of lace detailing, and either a large hair bow or a white straw hat. To this day, that is still the image that comes to mind when I think of an Easter outfit. I love the outfit above because it’s a modern (and grown-up) twist on a basic Easter dress because it still features the classic floral dress but pairing it with some strappy sandals and a jean jacket creates a comfortable but still chic spring look.

Favorite Easter Recipe:

When I think Easter, I think Easter bunny. When I think Easter bunny, I think carrots. When I think carrots, I think carrot cake. Hence, carrot cake is the perfect Easter dessert. When I got on Pinterest this morning and saw this recipe pop up I thought, “eureka!” Doesn’t it look delish!? The Carrot Cake Cheesecake recipe comes from the mother/daughter duo over at CaramelPotatoes.com and is the same recipe The Cheesecake Factory uses (pineapple cheesecake frosting included). Expect a review soon!

Favorite Easter DIY:
Nothing makes us “hoppier” than getting together with friends who share our love for making every day more colorful and creative. That’s why we called up Eye Swoon’s clever & talented Athena Calderone to join us for this week’s egg-cellent DIY project. Together we agree that the most stunning colors come from Mother Nature herself, which is why we put aside those store-bought dyes and created bold hues using veggies & spices. Topped off with cute graphics and personalized messages, these decorations will give your Easter basket a vibrant l’egg up!

To create: Add chopped beets, red cabbage and turmeric into separate pots of boiling water, along with two tablespoons of vinegar. Let pots simmer for approximately 30 minutes, then use a strainer to separate the vegetables from the liquid. Carefully place two hard-boiled eggs into a jar filled with dye. For light hues, soak eggs for approximately 30 minutes. For darker hues, soak overnight. Get creative and mix ingredients to create an assortment of colors. Finally, remove all eggs and place them back into the carton. Once completely dry, decorate each with a tattoo. Personalize tattoos with your own design by using printable tattoo sheets.

Get down with DIY and a dope playlist
CLICK HERE for the P.S.- I made this..Playlist
Curated by The Jane Doze
I’m a big fan of any natural substitute to harsh chemicals and dyes so when I saw this DIY on P.S. I Made This I thought it was genius! By boiling beets, red cabbage, or turmeric you can still create a bright and vivid dye while being kid (and pet) friendly! No nasty chemicals needed.

Well those are my Easter favorites for this week! Do you have any fun Easter plans? I’d love to hear all about them!

XO,
